MAGNA Carta-related family activities are being held daily through the summer holidays.

Palace Green Library in Durham is hosting ‘make and take’ activities aimed at children each afternoon from 1pm to 3pm.

Visitors can make crowns and swords, write with quills and more.

A free weekend of medieval family fun will be held on August 8 and 9, when visitors can try rope making, candle dipping, butter churning, coin making and more.

Dr Sarah Price, head of access and learning for Durham University Library and Heritage Collections, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming families every afternoon for our free Magna Carta talks and activities.”

Durham Cathedral’s unique 1216 edition of Magna Carta forms the centrepiece of an exhibition titled Magna Carta and the Changing Face of Revolt which runs at Durham University’s Palace Green Library until August 31.
