CHILDREN are being invited to contribute to a “great charter” for improving their home city.
The Durham Chamber of Trade and Durham University are appealing for youngsters’ ideas on making Durham City better, with a view to pulling together the best to create a Young People’s Great Durham Charter.
The competition runs alongside the Magna Carta exhibition, at Palace Green Library until the end of August.
Organisers want young people to send in up to three ideas.
The best ten from each of the two age groups, under 12s and ages 12 to 18, will be invited to a workshop run by a calligrapher, where they will write their idea onto the charter.
The completed charter will be unveiled in the autumn.
There are also prizes, including family passes to Durham University visitor attractions, a £50 afternoon tea voucher for Vennels cafe and a £50 meal voucher for Ramside Hall Hotel.
Entry forms are available from Palace Green Library and Mugwump and The Art Shop and Kemble Gallery, both on Saddler Street.
The closing date for entries is Friday, September 11.
