A FESTIVAL of brass band music came to a close in the North-East on Sunday night.
BRASS in County Durham featured every type of brass music from traditional to funk on offer during the four days of entertainment.
It included a set by The Fun Lovin’ Criminals, who performed hits from their back catalogue accompanied by a specially-commissioned brass section, the award-winning folk heroes, Home Service.
The event started on Thursday and concluded on Sunday.
Kate James, festivals and events manager at Durham County Council, which organises BRASS, said: “We’ve had four jam packed days of every kind of brass music, fantastic audiences, dancing, laughing and singing along.
“As well as our Big BRASS Bash tour which took the festival out over the last week into towns around Durham. It’s been a great year.”
Over 250 musicians and performers from 13 countries played 29 shows across the festival.
Ms James said: “It’s created a real buzz in the city and been enjoyed by thousands of people across the week.”
“All these bands really know how to play to the crowd and soon had everyone, young and old, clapping and dancing along.”
