MORE than 40 girl guiding volunteers from across the North-East have taken part in a two-day leadership course.
Volunteers were given leadership training, including first aid support, during the gathering at Durham University.
The training, funded by the People’s Postcode Lottery, was for volunteers working towards their Girlguiding Leadership Qualification enabling them to support girls and young women aged five to 25.
Rebecca Norton, from Girlguiding, who helped organise the event, said: “Training weekends are a fantastic opportunity for volunteers to hone their skills and receive the extra training they need to become guiding leaders.
“The work the volunteers do is vital as it ensures even more girls and young women can benefit from the work Girlguiding does.”
