NOVICE rowers can test the water and give the sport a try at an annual event taking place this weekend.
The Allcomers Regatta takes place on the River Wear in Durham on Sunday (July 12).
Aimed at groups of friends who have never tried rowing before, the event sees teams of four given coaching sessions by volunteers from Durham Amateur Rowing Club.
The novice crews, which can include one experienced rower, will then take part in a series of fun races over a 300-metre course.
There will also be a barbecue and auction.
The entry fee is £80 per team and all equipment, including boat and cox, will be supplied by the club.
Further details and entry forms can be found on http://www.durham-arc.org.uk/regatta/allcomers-regatta/. or by ringing 0191 3866431.
