THE COUNTRY’S biggest indoor trampolining and free running centre is to open here in the North-East.

The Infinite Air extreme trampoline park, which will cost £500,000, cover 35,000sq ft and create “dozens” of jobs, will open at Soccarena, Belmont Industrial Estate, Durham City later this month (July).

The Coretech Sports facility will boast 80 giant, interconnected trampolines across six activity zones, plus dodgeball and basketball courts.

Co-owner Richard Knowles said: “The park has been created for big kids but it isn’t just for young people – it’s open to every age and physical ability.

“From open jump and dodgeball leagues to birthday parties and corporate events, there’s going to be something for everyone.”

The centre will open within the Soccarena building next to Durham City FC’s New Ferens Park, meaning some existing indoor sports pitches are lost.

However, in their place will be a main trampoline area with a fast track, rebound walls and padded sections, plus connected trampolines for free jumping and fitness sessions. For the more practised, there will be trampolines on the walls for “air experiences”.

There will be a purpose-built area for free running training, plus Slam Dunk Basketball lanes, two dodgeball courts and more.

Mr Knowles said: “Infinite Air offers a high-energy fun and fitness experience for people of all ages and we’re thrilled to bring this unique entertainment concept to Durham.

“We’ve seen the tremendous success of this sort of centre across the USA and Australia and more recently in the UK and we’re proud to now create one for the people of the North-East.

“Developing the site will allow us to create a fantastic experience unlike any other in the area.

“Whether customers are looking for special events or just to enjoy time with their friends, Infinite Air Trampoline Park Durham will offer something for everyone.”

The lack of activities for teenagers and young adults has been a problem in Durham for some years, particularly following the closure of the city’s Robins Cinema and bowling alley.

The centre will be suitable for ages ten and up, or younger children with supervision. For more information on Infinite Air, visit infiniteair.co.uk
