A FORMER Durham student has returned to lead the city’s World Heritage Site.
Jane Gibson, who studied archaeology at Durham University in the late 1970s and early 1980s under the renowned Dame Rosemary Cramp, has become Durham’s World Heritage Site (WHS) co-ordinator.
The post brings together various bodies linked to the WHS, including Durham Cathedral, Durham University and Durham County Council.
One of Mrs Gibson’s first tasks is to update the WHS management plan.
“It’s very nice to be back working in Durham,” she said.
Mrs Gibson has worked in the heritage sector for 30 years, including at Beamish Museum and most recently in Cumbria.
She lives in Hexham, Northumberland.
