INFORMATION sessions are to be held later this month for anyone thinking of becoming a foster carer.
Durham County Council has organised two events taking place in Durham to meet existing foster carers and find out about the support available.
Events take place at County Hall on Monday, June 15 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and at Durham Town Hall on Friday, June 26 from 10am to noon.
Florence Coulter, fostering manager with Durham County Council, said: “Foster carers make a real difference to the lives of children and young people by offering them a stable family when they have had lots of change in their life.
“Many people don’t realise they have the skills to care for a child or young person.
“You will need to be a good listener, have plenty of patience, a commitment to helping the young person have a positive future, and a sense of humour helps too.”
