THE 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain is to be marked with a concert to honour those from the North-East who sacrificed so much during the nation’s darkest hour.

The Band of the Royal Air Force College will perform a selection of rousing and reflective music during the free concert at Durham Cathedral on Friday, June 5 at 7.30pm.

They will be joined by solo artist Heather Marie, with highlights of the performance including Walton’s Spitfire Prelude, Elgar’s Imperial March, We Gather Lilacs and Shenandoah.

Although the concert is free, entry will be strictly ticket only.

Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and can be requested by emailing northern@rafa.org.uk by calling 01772 426930 or by writing to: RAF Association Northern Area Office, Sterling Court, Offices 1-4, Leyland, Preston, PR25 3GR.
