A CONTINENTAL market will be in Durham this Bank Holiday weekend, heralding four days of fabulous flavours from far flung places.

The Spring into Summer market will be in Durham Market Place from 10am to 5pm on Friday (May 1) and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

There will be food from across the world including Turkey, Spain and France, jewellery, gifts, garden furniture and more.

On Friday, there will be children’s entertainment from Melissa Lane of Kallikids.

Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, said: “The Continental Market is always hugely popular in Durham.

“As well as enjoying the Spring into Summer market and picking up something they might not usually find, we hope that, while in Durham, shoppers will also make the most of the many independent retailers, both in the Market Hall and around the city centre.”

The Mayor of Durham, Councillor John Robinson, is due to visit the market on Friday morning.

The market visits Durham several times a year and is always popular with visitors and residents.
