AN exhibition of landscape paintings by a North-East artist has gone on show in the region.

Peter Podmore’s show, Passing Time, can be seen at Trevelyan College on Elvet Hill Road in Durham City until May 22.

Mr Podmore, who has a studio, near Wooler, in the Cheviot Hills of Northumberland, has a collection, which includes landscapes and buildings.

He said: “My first interest is in space, the manipulation of space, the illusion and paradox that space engenders.

“Space is timeless, it is an emptiness through which time may pass forwards and backwards at will as in the landscape where light and shadow, colour and form are in a constant state of flux and become insubstantial, self contradictory and confused, a resting place only for the imagination.”

The exhibition is open daily, from 10am to 6pm. Free admission.
