HOTEL staff and guests have been cycling hard to raise money for a cathedral.

The team from the Radisson Blu in Durham City cycled 175 miles on exercise bikes in the hotel gym in aid of Durham Cathedral’s £10m Open Treasure project.

The effort raise more than £100.

Kerri Smith, the hotel’s sales manager, said: “We were delighted t o work with Durham Cathedral in raising well needed funds for the cathedral’s Open Treasure.

“With the refurbishment of our Pace Healthclub we thought it would be a fantastic idea to promote our new equipment whilst raising money for a local charity based so close to the hotel.”

Clare Chillingworth, corporate and trust officer at Durham Cathedral, said: “Durham Cathedral relies on donations from members of the public and local businesses and we are extremely grateful for the support from the staff and hotel guests at Radisson Blu.

“The charity bike ride was a fantastic fundraising initiative and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves whilst raising money for the cathedral.”
