EAST Durham College barbering lecturer Alison Scattergood received a very special phone call asking her to go along and help out one of the world’s top barbers.

Alison was invited along to Catterick Garrison to help out at a Help for Heroes event by Wahl’s Simon Shaw.

World-renowned barber Simon invited Alison and fellow British Master Barber Chris ‘The Geordie Barber’ Moon to join him to help out with Wahl’s charity day.

The team helped raise funds for the charity and gave haircuts and wet shaves to servicemen and women at the base’s Phoenix House Recovery Centre.

Alison hailed the day as a fantastic experience and an amazing opportunity to team up with Simon, a Grand Master Barber, and help a brilliant cause.

She said: “I jumped at the chance to work with Simon when he called. When he calls you, you just can’t say no - he’s the best in the business.

“I have worked with Simon a few times now and he also visited the College earlier this year to give a masterclass to our students. I hope I get more opportunities to work with him in the future.

“It was a fantastic day and of course it was for a tremendous cause and we are always happy to help out with at the Phoenix House Recovery Centre.”
