A TEDDY bear hunt has been launched in Durham City as part of a scheme to keep children safe.
A total of 115 teddy bears are being hidden in shop and cafe windows across the city centre and will be wearing a blue, red, green or yellow sash, each of which represents a key safety message.
Sergeant Kay Howarth said: “It’s a great way to keep the young people busy over the Easter holiday period as well as educating them with key safety messages.”
The bear hunt started on Thursday (March 26) as part of the Safe City Initiative and competitors have until Sunday, April 12, to track down the 115 bears.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday, April 15, with prizes for the winner and two runners up.
Entrants need to collect an application form and record the location of all 115 bears.
Forms are available from The Gates Shopping Centre, Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, Park and Ride stations, Durham Town Hall, Durham City Police Station, Durham City Indoor Market, Freemans Quay Leisure Centre, North Road Bus Station and Clayport Library.
