A HOSPITAL radio station has been chosen as a bank branch’s first official charity.

The TSB branch in Durham's Prince Bishops shopping centre has named Durham Hospitals Radio as its cause and donated £100 to kick-start the partnership, which will include various fundraising activities.

TSB recently switched from having a centrally chosen charity to local causes.

The identity of the Durham charity was unveiled by Councillor John Robinson, the Mayor of Durham, during a visit last Friday (March 20).

Branch manager Anita Clark said: “I’m really excited to announce Durham Hospitals Radio as our first local charity partner in Durham.

“Our focus at TSB is to serve local customers and businesses in order to fuel local economies and that’s why we’re launching a new approach to how we support charity and community.

“Durham Hospitals Radio does some amazing work in the area and it was really important to us to pick a charity partner that gives so much back to the community.

“We can’t wait to get our fundraising off the ground and work together to make a real impact locally.”

Cllr Robinson added: “I’m delighted to see this local partnership get off the ground.

“I’m sure that together they’ll make a real difference to our local community. I wish them the best of luck.”
