A JEWELLERY design company has donated £500 to a £1m cathedral appeal.

Hertfordshire-based Reine d’Amour presented the gift to Durham Cathedral following a visit by Anne-Valerie Legrix, the head of design; paying for the construction of the St Joseph’s Window on the cathedral’s Lego model.

The window is one of the largest stained glass windows in the cathedral’s Chapel of the Nine Altars.

In the last year, Reine d’Amour has created a jewellery collection inspired by the cathedral’s architecture.

Ms Legrix said: “Durham Cathedral is renowned for its magnificent Romanesque architecture but I was particularly inspired by the smaller, more understated details of the architecture, especially where it afforded an opportunity to introduce colour into the collection, for example the quire pews.

“We hope our donation to Durham Cathedral in Lego will enable more people to be inspired by the cathedral’s architecture as more spaces are opened up as part of Open Treasure.”
