AN animal charity is urgently looking for a new home for one of its oldest residents.

Roxy was rescued by the RSPCA eight months ago, after being found abandoned in an empty house.

The four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier is being looked after at Deerness Kennels in Langley Moor, near Durham City, but months after arrival is still looking for a new family.

Kath Myatt Durham and District dog rehoming co-ordinator for the RSPCA, said she would be best suited to a new owner who has some experience of looking after the breed, but does not have other dogs in the home.

She said: “She is the usual, lively Staffie, but she is very friendly with people.

“She has been out with fosterers and is good in the home, but I would say she should go as a single dog because she is a little bit wary of other dogs.

“She has been in the kennels for far too long.”
