A SCHOOLGIRL has won an annual competition to design a Christmas card for her MP.

City of Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods has chosen the winning design in a competition for primary school children in her constituency.

On Friday (Nov 14) she presented prizes to winner Caitlin Bradley, from Finchale Primary School in Newton Hall and runner-up Lilly Newton, from Kelloe Primary School, whose design will feature on the back of the card.

The card will be distributed across the MP’s constituency and to her Westminster colleagues.

Dr Blackman-Woods said: “The quality of designs this year was really impressive and it’s really heartening to see so many wonderful entries from these young budding artists.

“It is great to be able to showcase the talent that we have here in Durham which is why I have been running this competition since I was elected as Durham’s MP.

“I want to congratulate Caitlin and Lilly for their great designs”.
