A MAN is due in court after an incident in which dogs attacked another man.
Stephen Potts, 48, from Low Pittington, near Durham City, has been bailed to appear before magistrates at Peterlee on November 27 charged with owning dangerously out of control dogs.
At 1pm on Tuesday, October 21, police received reports of dogs attacking a man on fields in an area between Pittington and Belmont known locally as The Scrambles.
Officers responded and the dogs were quickly secured and taken to kennels where they remain.
A decision has yet to be taken as to the future of the animals.
The injured man, a 63- year- old from Belmont, was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Durham (UHND) with serious but non-life- threatening injuries to his head and leg.
He has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.
A Staffordshire bull terrier also injured in the incident was taken to the vets for treatment and is now recovering at home.
