FAMILIES are invited to brush up their artistic skills at a two-day event designed to get people drawing.

Durham Cathedral will join historic monuments and arts venues across the globe by taking part in the international Big Draw initiative.

The Big Draw aims to get people thinking about interpreting arts and history through drawing on a theme of “It's Our World.”

Families are invited to draw inspiration from the cathedral interior and will then be offered drawing boards and pencils to walk around the church, with a separate colouring-in station set up at the back of the nave.

Education Officer Jo Clamp, said: “This activity is great for children of any age but is also perfect for families where the adults might want to help draw and the children can colour, to create an imaginary landscape that means something to the whole family.”

The colourful landscapes will be on display, wrapped around the Cathedral’s pillars along the length of the Nave.

The free events run on a drop-in basis from 10.30am to 4pm on Tuesday, October 28 and Wednesday, October 29 and there is no need to book.
