TWO Navy recruits have completed their basic training.
Anne Unsworth and Kieran Fish completed a ten-week training course at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, before taking part in a passing out parade.
Ms Unsworth, a former Framwellgate School Durham pupil and barmaid, said: “I joined the Royal Navy because I wanted a long career, to see the world, for the great experience, to make people proud and to become the best I can be while excelling at my chosen career path.”
Mr Fish, a former Bishop Barrington School, Bishop Auckland, pupil, said: “Training was character building, particularly the 25km trek across Dartmoor carrying a 20kg rucksack on my back.”
Ms Unsworth will now transfer to HMS Collingwood in Hampshire, while Mr Fish will remain at HMS Raleigh for specialist training at the Royal Navy submarine school.
