A MEDIEVAL-themed fund-raising event will be held in Durham Market Place this weekend in aid of St Cuthbert’s Hospice.

Battle re-enactment hire shop GetDressedForBattle, based in Durham Market Hall, is staging A Knight In Durham on Saturday which will feature The Dawn of Chivalry, the Medieval battle re-enactment group.

There will be a chance to fight a knight, sit in the stocks and a raffle with a helmet as prize.

Pauline Brown, of GetDressedForBattle, said: “There’ll be plenty of colour, noise and action in the Market Place, and entertainment for all the family when the Fighting Knights arrive. “Alongside this, we’re hoping our raffle will produce a good contribution for St Cuthbert’s Hospice. “

Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Markets, said: “We’re hoping visitors to Durham Market Place this coming Saturday will enjoy the entertainment, and also dig deep to support our local hospice.”

A Knight in Durham begins at 11am. Raffle tickets will be available on the day and in advance at GetDressedForBattle, Units 61 and 62 in Durham Market Hall.
