A HOUSING provider has been given a £5,000 grant for gas safety work in the homes of elderly and vulnerable tenants in Durham.

Four Housing’s Care and Repair Service has received the Gas Safe Charity funding through the Foundations Independent Living Trust (FILT).

It will be used by Four Housing’s Care & Repair Service to pay for the replacement, repair and servicing of dangerous, faulty or inefficient gas appliances and installations that put the safety of older and vulnerable people at risk.

Philippa Hughes, head of business development at Four Housing’s Care & Repair Service said: “This is a huge boost to our capability to help those in need.

“At Four Housing we not only create homes for people, we also aim to improve lives in the community and the work of our care and repair team is part of this.

“We are looking forward to working with our partners to identify those most in need and enable us to make people safe and warm in their homes.”
