DURHAM University has again been ranked among the world’s top universities for the employability of its graduates, according to the new 2014/15 QS World University Rankings.

Durham was ranked 25th globally for employer reputation with regard to the quality of, and international demand for, its graduates following a survey of 27,900 blue-chip employers world-wide.

In the latest figures, 87 per cent of Durham graduates secured employment or went on to further study within six months of graduating.

The average starting salary for a Durham graduate is £22,000, which is £2,000 above the national average.

Overall Durham was ranked 92nd in the league table, maintaining its World Top 100 status.

Durham is consistently ranked as one of the UK’s leading universities and in the recent Complete University Guide 2015 all of the University’s courses were ranked in the top ten – the only University in the UK to achieve this recognition. This cemented Durham’s position as one of the finest all-round universities in the country, delivering excellence in education and research across all its disciplines.

Durham graduate Johnny Luk, who is the UK's youngest chief executive officer of a seven digit non-profit company, said he owes much of his success to his time at Durham University.

Mr Luk, 23, who graduated with a degree in biology, business and geography in 2009, is the chief executive of the National Association of College and University Entrepreneurs (NACUE) and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

During his time at Durham University, he won the 'Durham Award' for his community service, undertook an internship at KPMG and also taught part-time in Silver Tree Primary School in Ushaw Moor.

He said: “Durham University changed my life, not just through the top class teaching, but also because of the incredible environment and the rich diversity of people.”
