FLORAL tributes have been left at the North-East beauty spot where a teenager drowned earlier this week.
A shrine made of flowers and a large silver balloon in the shape of the letter J have been left next to the River Wear at Finchale Priory, near Durham, in memory of 17-year-old Jordan Roberts.
He got into difficulty after entering the water with his two teenage brothers and a friend in his 20s at about 5pm on Monday. (September 8)
Jordan, who lived in Sunderland, was formerly a pupil at Red House Academy pupil, had a girlfriend named Courtney, was a Sunderland AFC fan and enjoyed fishing.
A poignant note from Courtney said: “No matter what you are going to be my one and only. No boy will ever replace you in my eyes cause you were different.
“We got on like best friends.
“Love you to bits. Sleep tight and see you soon, love you Jordan Roberts.”
On Wednesday, Durham Police confirmed a body found in the river on Tuesday morning was that of the teenager.
An inquest is being opened on Friday and will be adjourned for further investigations to be carried out.
