EXTRA rush hour buses are being added to an express service between Durham and Tyneside.
Go North East is boosting its X21 Pronto service between Durham, Chester-le-Street, Gateshead and Newcastle from Monday (September 1).
The improved service will provide an express bus every 15 minutes in each direction at peak times.
Pronto buses run non-stop between Chester-le-Street and Gateshead Interchange to give a fast service to and from Newcastle
Marketing and sales manager Stephen King said: “Getting into Gateshead or Newcastle can be tricky at peak times and with major roadworks starting on the A1 Western Bypass we felt that we could help commuters by offering more fast buses from Durham and Chester-le-Street.
“Travelling by bus gives you more free time to read, catch up on your social media or relax with some music.
“Bus travel is great value for money, with our Angel Weeklysaver ticket giving unlimited travel between Durham and Newcastle for just £17 - much cheaper than the train or filling up with fuel.”
