A WOMAN battling cancer who bounced back from brain surgery to produce an inspirational song will take it on tour again at the weekend.

Sue Atkinson, who forms part of the duo 2sum with friend Martyn Banks, has already raised more than £1,200 Cancer Research UK through her song Take My Hand - £500 of which was realised during a tour last weekend.

The cash will be directed specifically for brain cancer research.

Mrs Atkinson, 53, of High Pittington, near Durham City, said: “I have been living with cancer for more than 11 years now.

“I have been through five sets of chemotherapy and have various procedures and three big operations, including brain surgery several weeks ago, when they managed to remove all the tumour they could see.

“The operation was very successful. Everyone is amazed at how I bounce back every time. “

Our Take my Hand tour will begin at the Chester-le-Street Methodist Church coffee morning at 10am tomorrow (Saturday, August 16), followed by an appearance in the town’s Chester Grove Garden Centre, in Holm Hill Lane, Chester Moor at 11am.

On Sunday (August 17) the duo will perform at Plants R Ross Garden Centre at South Hetton at 11am.
