AN ARTIST is seeking to transport cathedral visitors 1,300 years back in time.
Award-winning wildlife artist Chris Watson has created a soundscape he believes replicates the noises St Cuthbert would have heard while living on Lindisfarne around 700AD.
The installation is in the Chapel of the Holy Cross at Durham Cathedral, a shrine to St Cuthbert, until Friday, August 29.
Mr Watson created it while studying at Durham University last year and it was premiered during last summer’s Lindisfarne Gospels exhibition.
Ruth Robson, head of marketing and events at Durham Cathedral, said: “It was enjoyed by many visitors last year and we are delighted to provide another opportunity for visitors and residents of Durham to once again experience this unique perspective on St Cuthbert.”
Entry is free. For further details, visit durhamcathedral.co.uk
