A SUPERMARKET has named its charity of the year.
Staff at Sainsbury’s, at the Arnison Centre, near Durham City, will devote a year to raising money for Supporters of Stray and Abandoned Dogs (SoSad).
The charity is based at Deerness Kennels, Langley Moor, and works to re-home stray dogs.
The cause was chosen following a customer vote by a staff choice.
Dogs from SoSad will be at the front of the store on Saturday, August 9, from 11am and there will be various fundraising activities taking place.
Store manager Russ Walker said: “We’re delighted to have chosen a charity which touched many of our colleagues’ hearts.”
Last year, the store raised £5,418.56 for the St Margaret’s Centre, a mental health charity based on Crossgate, Durham.
