AN exhibition of landscapes associated with the life and legacy of St Cuthbert will be held next week.
A show of watercolours and pastels by artist Gillie Cawthorne will be held at The Almshouses Cafe on Palace Green, juts yards from the Lindisfarne Gospels exhibition.
"St Cuthbert’s Lands" includes views of Lindisfarne, Cumbria, Yorkshire, the Scottish Borders and, of course, Durham itself.
The artist, a Durham University graduate, said: "Many places associated with St Cuthbert have probably changed beyond all recognition, so I’ve focused on those which I feel would still look familiar to him or which, like Durham Cathedral, look the way they do because of his existence and his legacy."
The exhibition opens on September 1 and runs until the end of the month, open from 9am to 5pm each day.
