YOUNG people from north Durham have been taking part in activities after a charity held an action-packed open day.

Consett and District YMCA welcomed children of all ages to its headquarters on Parliament Street, Consett.

Activities included a climber tower, zorb balls and a laser shooting range.

It is part of the YI Am project, which is being funded with £200,000 worth of lottery money over the next five years.

Project manager Lee Robson said: "This is the first event we have done at the YM where anybody can come along and we are going to be running more.

"The kids were interacting well and there were well over 30 people so it has been well attended."

The activity equipment is available for free to groups who wish to organise similar events. For more information call Mr Robson on 01207-502680.
