POLICE have appealed for information following reports of several incidents where dogs have been allowed to attack cats in the Peterlee area. A police spokesman said: "This is an illegal act. Dogs must be kept on a lead in a public place.
"For police to be able to investigate, these incidents need to be reported to the police. If you have been a victim please call us to report it."
Anyone with information about who is responsible should contact Durham Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
Help needed
DELTA North Consett, formerly Consett YMCA, is looking for volunteers to help with its charity shop and furniture recycling scheme. Experienced drivers and helpers are needed the furniture department, which runs daily from 8am till 4pm. Memorial walk
EASINGTON Colliery Heritage Group stages a two-mile walk, on Tuesday, to mark the 67th anniversary of the village’s pit disaster, in which 83 men were killed. A ‘free and friendly’ walk, it starts from Easington Colliery Welfare, at 1pm, where there is available car parking. No booking is necessary. The walk takes in the communal grave to the dead from the disaster where a wreath will be laid and a short poem read. All are welcome.
