AN art gallery will be hosting a charity event featuring a lookalike of the star of BBC1’s Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Brian Lewins, who masquerades as a convincing Mrs Brown, will be at the The Glass and Art Gallery in Medomsley Road, Consett, from 10.30am to 2pm on Friday. The event is in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

Maralyn O’Keefe said: “Mrs “Brian” Brown is a well-known Mrs Brown lookalike who is dedicated to raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and has been mistaken many a time as being the real Mrs Brown, as the resemblance is really uncanny.

“The only giveaway is his Geordie accent.”

A proportion of all sales made on the day will go to the Alzheimer’s Society, as well as proceeds of the sale of refreshments.

Mr Lewins of Leadgate, near Consett, said: “It was my son Paul who first noticed the resemblance. He told me I was the spitting image of the telly character.

“I laughed it off at first, but then I realised he had a point.”

The retired care home worker, whose late mother Margaret had dementia, set about sourcing Mrs Brown-style clothing, including a curly wig.
