A WINTRY scene showing Consett in bygone days has been recreated by a local artist.
The seasonal image, showing Middle Street, from the 1950s or 60s, was painted by Michael James.
It is the fourth in a series of five Christmas cards for Consett Brass.
Band master David Jackson said: “It shows Middle Street looking from the church. The idea is to capture different eras of Consett with the cards.
“The bands are playing carols and there are people looking out. That scene is typical of Middle Street at Christmas over the years.
“Potts’s clock is there. It was working then but it stopped some time ago.”
The series of cards are to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, and the final one will be produced next year to mark the end of the conflict.
Mr Jackson, who is also a teacher at Consett Junior School, said: “They will be a collector’s item in a few years.”
They are £3 for five or £5 for ten to cover costs. To order, call Mr Jackson on 01207-504-143 or visit Consett Junior School.
