A DRIVER has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a man died in a crash.
The collision involving a blue MG ZR and a white Renault van happened on the A692, in Consett yesterday.
The male driver of a third vehicle, a black Vauxhall Insignia, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “The MG ZR was travelling from Castleside towards Consett when it was involved in a collision with a second vehicle travelling south west.
"The male driver of the MG ZR was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
“The male driver of the Renault received hospital treatment for non-life threatening injuries.”
- Police are now appealing for witnesses. Anyone who was in the area at the time and has seen the vehicles or has dashcam footage are asked to contact 101 quoting ref number 153 of October 1.
