HOMES have been found for all 13 guinea pigs rescued after they were cruelly dumped alive outdoors in freezing conditions.
Three died after they were left in woodland, near Consett, in County Durham, last week but kind-hearted animal lovers rounded up as many as they could.
RSCPA inspectors also found the bodies of two pheasants and a rabbit along with rubbish that had been left at Knitsley last Wednesday.
Staff from Consett Pet and Aquatic Centre and Groom at the Top in the town centre spent hours caring for the pets and appealed for people to come forward to offer them new homes.
Lisa Hubert, from Groom at the Top, said: “The response has been amazing.
“I am absolutely over the moon. People from all over have been touch and been popping in to say ‘well done’ and ask if there is anything we need.
“On Saturday, it was crazy. It was just one phone call after another so they were snapped up quickly.”
