POLICE have issued an appeal to find vandals spraying graffiti in Consett.

The graffiti has been sprayed in various locations around Consett Town Centre - Spencer Street, Cleadon Street, Gibson Street and Medomsley Road.

Consett Police Community Inspector Keith Wardle said: "Whoever is responsible has painted random letters. Tagging and grafitti is not something we get a lot of.

"No one has been arrested and there are no suspects at the moment."
He added: "This will cause huge distress and has financial implication for the victims.

"It is quite costly, specially for owners of vehicles if they have got to have them resprayed."

"We would appeal with anyone with information to contact contact 101 quoting crime reference Cri00030500."

Following the police appeal, residents took to Facebook to say their vehicles have also been hit by the vandal.

James Horn posted this picture of his mum's Toyota Yaris which was damaged near Medomsley Road with a similar looking graffiti tag to those found in the town centre.
