A CATHOLIC school has held celebrations in its newly-refurbished hall to mark its 50th birthday.
Bishop Seamus Cunningham held a special Mass at St Bede’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College in Lanchester last week as past and present pupils celebrated the anniversary.
Among those attending the event were some of the St Bede’s Pioneers, the first students to be taught at the school in 1966.
Headteacher Neville Harrison said: “It is wonderful to welcome back former students and staff, who have so many fond memories of our school.
“We are incredibly proud of our heritage and our tradition of excellence here at St Bede’s and tonight has given us an opportunity to celebrate the past and look forward to a wonderful future.”
