A MAN wanted by police in connection with an alleged attempted murder handed himself in to officers on Thursday night.
Detectives had urged Graham Ross Clarke, 24 and who is from the Consett area of County Durham to give himself up earlier in the day.
Shortly after 9.30pm on Thursday night a spokesman for Durham Police confirmed he had turned up at Durham City police station.
He is now helping officers with their inquiries, he said.
"Thank you to the public for their help in tracing Graham Clarke, circulated earlier today as being wanted in relation to an offence of attempted murder, he is now with police assisting with the enquiry," a statement read.
An investigation is underway following the attack on the 25-year-old man in the Forster Street area of Consett in the early hours of Monday, October 3.
The victim suffered several stab wounds and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
He has since been discharged and is recovering from his injuries.
