A VILLAGE cafe is applying for late-night opening hours because of a lack of day-time food sales.
The owners of the Soup Bar in Esh Winning, which currently has permission to open from 9am to 9pm, wants to change their hours to 3pm or 5pm to 11pm.
Anna Hussein, from the cafe, said: “Food sales during the day, up to 5pm, have not proved viable in the area. We have built up a small trade between the hours of 6pm to 9pm, but business picks up after 8pm and many customers have requested that we open after 9pm.
“We are conscientious at all times of any noise or litter that may prove a nuisance to any residential customers and feel that a further opening of two hours would not cause any distress to our neighbours.”
She added that the Chinese takeaway next door remains open until 11pm.
