STAFF and residents at a care home in north Durham are celebrating after being rated ‘outstanding’.

Greenways Court, at Delves Lane, Consett, received the rating from the Care Quality Commission following a visit by inspectors.

The service has been rated ‘outstanding’ for being caring and effective, and was rated ‘good’ for being safe, responsive, and well-led.

Helen McArdle, chairman and founder of Helen McArdle Care, said: “It is extremely difficult to achieve an outstanding CQC grading and this is our second so far.

“We couldn’t have achieved this result without the hard work and dedication of staff and the support of residents, relatives and healthcare professionals.

“Our staff teams work very hard to provide the highest quality of care and to be innovative in all that we do, so for that to be recognised is fantastic.”

The inspector was impressed with the care provided, including the extensive knowledge and understanding of people’s needs, interests, likes and dislikes and the range of warm and affectionate interactions with residents.

The report also highlighted as outstanding the level of training provided for staff in the company’s dedicated training academy and the quality of the dining, including the innovative pureed food technique.

Donna Dove, Care Home Manager, added: “All of my team work hard to ensure that we provide the very best care.

“We are thrilled the home has been recognised as outstanding and will be sure to have a party with residents and their families to celebrate.”
