A COMMUNITY theatre group in north Durham is putting on its latest musical stage show this month.

React Youth Theatre is performing Summer Holiday at the Empire Theatre in Consett.

It is directed by Ian Mordue and choreographed by Laura Walley with music from a seven piece orchestra made up of musicians from across the region.

Group spokesman Wendy Simmons said: “React Youth Theatre was founded in 2010, to provide a weekly service to the young people of our local community where they could develop within the field of performing arts, in a fun and safe environment.

“It is run solely by volunteers whose aim is to develop the skills and confidence of our members working towards a large scale production.”

The production runs from Wednesday to Friday, March 16-18 with performances at 7pm.

Ms Simmons said: “Let us take you for a ride with an evening of fun, laughter and entertainment.

“This musical comedy will have you wanting to dance in the aisles bringing back the fun of the 60's, including hit songs The Young Ones, Bachelor Boy and, of course, Summer Holiday.

“The children are excited and are looking forward to delivering such a big production.”

Tickets cost £8, concessions £7, can be booked by calling 01207-218-171.
