A COMMUNITY theatre group in north Durham is performing Beauty and the Beast this week.
CBS Theatre Group is putting on its latest production at the Empire Theatre in Consett from Monday until Saturday.
Abbie Jenkins will be playing the part of Beauty and John Mcardle is The Beast.
Neil Pears will don a few frocks for the comedy lead as the panto dame, Mrs Potty, supported by Philip Richardson, Peter Edwards and Alanah Forster as the candlestick, the clock and the feather duster.
The cast is made up of performers from all age groups in the local community.
Pantomime director Virginia Aken said: “It is a good family fun and a great treat for all ages.
“This much loved children’s traditional story is given a typical pantomime twist which will leave you with a big smile as you leave the theatre.
“This full of fun pantomime, includes songs, drama and comedy which will be a real treat for all the family.”
