A NEW branch of the Post Office is to open in the New Year.
The community of Blackhill, near Consett is to get a new Post Office from the end of January.
A branch will open in the Premier Store in Durham Road on Thursday, January 28.
Services will be available seven days a week, with opening hours of 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 10pm at weekends.
Angela Bettison, Post Office Field Change Advisor said: “We recognised the gap in our existing Post Office branch network and are delighted to be opening a brand new local branch, with extended opening hours and a Sunday service, to meet the needs of the community around Durham Road. ”
Store owner Karnail Singh added: “Having a Post Office and convenience store together is an ideal combination and my existing customers and the whole community will be delighted to know they were getting a Post Office”.
