A CHRISTMAS card depicting a seasonal scene in north Durham has been launched.
Consett Brass has unveiled its second of five cards in a set showing the former steel town in a festive light.
Consett artist Michael James conjured up the image of a brass band playing outside the former Plaza cinema on Victoria Road during the mid-20th century.
Band master David Jackson said: “We hope that people around the world will want to have one of these cards because they live all over the place now.
“It is based on a number of old pictures of Consett and the artist has used a bit licence to create his own image.
“Hopefully, it will bring back lots of memories for people.”
The series of five cards are to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, with more being produced every year until 2018.
Mr Jackson, who is also a teacher at Consett Junior School, said: “It is a historic picture and very imaginative. We are very pleased with it.”
The cards cost £2.50 for five or £4 for ten to cover costs.
To order a pack call Mr Jackson on 01207-504-143.
