A HOUSING association employee from north Durham has been named as one of the Top 30 under 30 in his profession.

Ben Watson was selected from hundreds of applications from across the country to be named as one of national magazine 24 Housing’s ‘Young Leaders’.

The 21-year-old joined Derwentside Homes as an apprentice in 2012 and has quickly risen through the ranks, being promoted to tenancy income officer last year.

Following this latest achievement, Mr Watson has now been nominated to speak at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s annual North-East conference, which takes place later this month.

He said: “I find working in housing really interesting, especially at the moment as there are so many legislative changes and proposals in the pipeline which could have a massive impact on the future of our business and the housing sector as a whole.”

Earlier this year, Mr Watson was named the winner of the Rising Star award at the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) North East Celebrating the Region Awards.
