A THEATRE in the North-East has launched its Christmas pantomime.

Jack and The Beanstalk is playing at the Empire Theatre in Consett from December 4 until New Year’s Eve.

The Leisureworks panto is once again being produced and directed by Leah Bell and promises to have special effects, impressive scenery and glittering costumes.

Leah Bell said: “The year has flown by so quickly and here we are with our beanstalk all ready to grow, and the cast eager to begin rehearsals.

“I’m delighted to be returning to the Empire for the fifth year running, with such a great cast of enthusiastic and talented actors.”

There cast made of a range of regional talent including Glen Richard Townsend as Jack, and Lee Brannigan as Dame Hilda Flattle Cackle.
