THREE people were taken to hospital after a crash between two cars.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened on Medomsley Road, in Consett on Sunday (Sept 27) afternoon.

The accident happened at around 2.30pm, close to the town’s newly-opened leisure centre, and involved a white Vauxhall Insignia and a grey Peugeot 307.

The driver of the Insignia, a 39-year-old man from Stanley, and his front seat passenger, a 37-year-old woman, from Burnopfield, along with the driver of the Peugeot, a 56-year-old man from Consett, were all taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

The road was closed to allow the vehicles to be recovered and was reopened a short time later.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Durham Police on 101.
