LADY Elsie Robson will officially unveil an art exhibition at a local hospice.

Works by the Newcastle Painters Group are to go on show at Willow Burn Hospice, near Lanchester later this month.

The group, formed 20 years ago, features artists from across the region who have at some point studied or taught in Newcastle.

Group tutor William Varley said: “It is absolutely in keeping with their artistic values that the artists involved in the group are mounting this exhibition at Willow Burn.

“Like Matisse, who was not bashful in producing paintings to give pleasure, they too offer pleasure, together with a life-enhancing emotional and spiritual dimension.”

The exhibition will be launched on Sunday, October 25 by Lady Elsie with an event starting at 12.30pm which will also include a variety of stalls offering homemade fudge to handcrafted goods.

Members of the public can visit the exhibition from noon to 3pm, Monday to Friday, and from 11am to 2pm at weekends.

The exhibition will run until December 5.
