FRIENDS and family of a well-known North-East reporter will say a final farewell later this month.
Beth Carr, who was chief reporter for the Consett Guardian, Stanley News and Blaydon Courant, and later The Advertiser, was 80-years-old and living at Derwent Care Home at Low Westwood.
She died recently after suffering from vascular dementia in the last 12 years of her life.
She was born Elizabeth Stephenson in South Moor, Stanley, and lived most of her life on Queens Road in Blackhill, near Consett.
Mrs Carr became a mother in 1960 to her daughter Christine, with her son Philip coming along three years later.
She was married to Harry, who died from cancer in 1993.
Her funeral is to be held on Monday, September 21 at 11am at St Cuthbert’s Church, Church Bank, Benfieldside, Consett.
After the service refreshments will be served in the church hall opposite and there will be a private cremation service attended by her son and daughter only.
The family has requested no flowers but asked for donations REAL Choice College, a local college attended by Mrs Carr's eldest grandson Mark who has special needs. A collection will be taken in the church.
